Jio has just made an exciting announcement for cricket fans! Starting March 22, customers with a Jio SIM and a plan of ₹299 or above can live stream the Indian Premier League (IPL). The opening match will feature defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens. This comes after the merger of Viacom18 and Star India, now called JioStar, which combined JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar into a single streaming platform called JioHotstar. The platform boasts nearly 3 lakh hours of entertainment, live sports coverage, and over 50 crore users.
Previously, IPL matches were available for free on JioCinema, but starting in 2025, fans will need a subscription to watch the full matches or be a Jio network customer. The merger between Reliance (owned by Mukesh Ambani) and Walt Disney, valued at $8.5 billion, has reshaped the media landscape in India.
For IPL 2025, Jio is rolling out some fantastic offers. Customers can enjoy a 90-day free subscription to JioHotstar in 4K quality on TV or mobile, along with a 50-day free trial of JioFiber or AirFiber broadband services for their homes. These services include access to over 800 TV channels, 11+ OTT apps, and unlimited WiFi.
Here’s how you can take advantage of these offers:
- Existing Jio users: Recharge with a ₹299 plan (1.5GB/day or more) or above between March 17 and March 31, 2025.
- New Jio users: Get a new Jio SIM with a ₹299 plan (1.5GB/day or more) or above during the same period.
If you’ve already recharged before March 17, you can opt for a ₹100 add-on pack to access the offer. The JioHotstar subscription will activate on March 22, 2025, coinciding with the IPL opener, and will last for 90 days.
